City of Bunnell Awarded $462,000 REDI Grant From the Water Management District

Bunnell, Fla. (December 17, 2017) – On December 12, 2017 the City of Bunnell was awarded a REDI grant from the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) for Westside Storm and Sanitary Improvements. The grant amount for construction cost is $462,000.

This project will consist of rehabilitating the sanitary sewer collection system on the west side of US 1 (State Street) much of which was developed in the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s.

The City will be rehabilitating the sanitary sewer collection system along with 13 manholes. The manholes will be sealed to prevent Inflow and Infiltration (I&I). The City will also upsize and replace the storm sewer and culvers on Deen Road west of Tucker Street towards SR100.

The City is very excited about this project as it will reduce the potential impact of flooding in this area.

City Receives $58,091 FEMA Grant to Harden City Hall

The City of Bunnell has received notification of the award of a Federally funded grant from the Florida Division of Emergency Management. This sub-awarded grant of $58,091 is for the wind retrofit of City Hall. The funds will be used to replace and strengthen the roof of City Hall along with obtaining hurricane shutters and other building strengthening activities. The project should be completed no later than December 2019.

Funded through FEMA Hurricane Mitigation funds from Hurricane Matthew.
The key purpose of this grant program is to enact mitigation measures that reduce the risk of loss of life and property from future disasters.
